Hellmann’s latest acquisition are the Hungarian and Romanian branches of the overnight express parcel provider "Innight Express", it communicated in a press release on 05JUL21. The latest puzzle piece in a global picture constantly geared to move with the world market.
Every couple of weeks, it would seem, global full-service provider Hellmann Worldwide Logistics is off in another part of the world, adding a further section to its expansive portfolio – be it investing in state-of-the-art warehousing over in New Zealand, growing its European road network with the recent opening its first French Direct Load branch in Rennes, or aiming for an air network with a difference through its partnership with Dronamics (CFG reported: https://www.cargoforwarder.eu/2021/06/30/hellmann-and-dronamics-partner/) and its journey into drone deliveries.
Expanding overnight in Eastern Europe
The latest move is the acquisition of "Innight Express". The overnight express provider is based in Hungary and Romania. Founded in Törökbálint, 15 kilometers west of Budapest, Hungary, in 2004,
initially as the result of a management buy-out of TNT Innight Hungary Kft, Innight Express has grown to over 40 employees over the years, and an annual revenue of over €9 million. It has become
a specialist in overnight and dangerous goods express deliveries predominantly for automotive and agricultural industry customers. Since 2013, the company has been complemented by its Romanian
subsidiary, Innight Romania Express in Ciorogârla, which generated a turnover of almost €5 million in 2020, and numbers in the region of 30 employees.
“By expanding our overnight-express services into Eastern Europe, we are taking another important step in our expansion strategy, which we have been executing upon since the beginning of the
year, with initiatives such as the acquisition of Hellmann East Europe and the joint venture of Rhenus & Hellmann,” Jörg Herwig, Chief Operating Officer Road & Rail Hellmann
Worldwide Logistics, stated.
Seamless integration
The release confirms that Innight Express’ shareholders, Tamás Aradi and Zoltán Csombok, will continue to manage the company as Co-Managing Directors, and that customers “can expect a
seamless integration and unchanged business relationships.”
Wilfried Hesselmann, Chief Operating Officer CEP, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, outlined: “The acquisition of Innight Express gives us access and a presence in two attractive emerging
countries in the Eastern European overnight-express market. We are pleased to be able to take on all 74 employees as part of the Innight Express acquisition.”
Striving for sustained strength
“As part of the global Hellmann FAMILY, we want to make our contribution to the overall success of the company in the future. Our goal is to further expand while sustainably strengthening our
presence and share in East Europe,” Tamás Aradi and Zoltán Csombok, Managing Directors CEP RO/HU, emphasized.
Both locations are conducive to Hellmann’s Central and East European expansion strategy, especially in the key overnight express services segment. Hungary has a solid compound annual growth rate
(CAGR) of 6% for at least the next 5 years, and Romania’s courier market has seen double-digit growth over the past few years.
